In February 2024, LinkedIn conducted a survey of various sectors – from industrial, technical, service, health, and educational professions – to identify the most sought-after skills for existing and future employees
Aside from the relevant ‘technical knowledge’ for a position, most hiring managers disclosed that they are looking for transferable skills.
Transferable skills aren’t always mentioned in a job description, despite the expectations of employers almost always including these in their must-haves.
Here are the seven transferable skills identified by LinkedIn’s 2024 report.

- Teamwork & Collaboration.
- Adaptability & Flexibility.
- Time Management & Organisation.
- Emotional Intelligence.
- Leadership & People Management
It’s the transferability of these skills between all sectors of the employment spectrum that makes them so attractive and important to develop.
