The past year has provided all of us – as individuals, teams, or organisations – with its fair share of challenges.

Some of these you may have met head-on, and even succeeded in the face of potential adversity. Go you!

Other challenges may have left you feeling overwhelmed, beaten up, or maybe even defeated. It happens.

The key thing for us to focus on at this point of the year (i.e. the pointy end) is the lessons we have been subjected to and what we have learned from them.

As you look at winding up this year, and planning for the year ahead, here are some stimulus questions to consider.

  1. Is there something or someone you over-invested in? This is an area where you dedicated considerable time and effort, yet the returns didn’t justify the attention you gave.
  2. Is there something or someone you under-invested in? Upon reflection, you can usually identify areas where you should/could have dedicated more time and effort.
  3. What’s something you can start doing?
  4. What’s something you should stop doing?
  5. What’s something you should continue?

When you combine the ‘investment’ type questions with the ‘start, stop, continue’ questions, you are establishing a solid foundation for closing off the current year, and laying solid foundations for the year ahead.

Another beauty of these questions is that they can be applied to any aspect of your life – personal or professional.

Happy planning – and reflecting!
